A world of contrasts. From the highly abstract to the shockingly mundane and sometimes, silly.
The unabating infinite tension between luminosity and the dark. It’s a delicate dance. The unraveling madness that scintillates hearts and minds alike.
Methinks it is why we are at once awed by the paintings of Cleopatra VII whose beauty and power resides in her depiction as a mysterious femme fatale who could bring such upheaval when in rage, or take the case of the Vitruvian Man drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci. Better still, what about the depiction of the Nude man from Michelangelo’s Last judgement fresco in the Sistine Chapel., man at his most base. This is the proper enquiry of the arts.
As I prepare to offer a repertoire of these very musings, here lies my opening salvo: man’s deepest yearnings consist in equal parts, appetite for the shocking and a gasp for profundity.
It’s a balance. The delicate dance.
